Thank you for purchasing Cerevo LiveShell W.

This document is a guide explaining how to update the firmware of LiveShell W (hereinafter referred to as "this product"). Please refer to the online manual for details on how to use this product.

How to update the firmware by operating the main unit

Step-by-step instructions

A microSD card of 32 GB or less formatted with FAT32 is required for the firmware update with sufficient free space. Updates does not support using a USB memory stick or a microSD card with a capacity greater than 32 GB.

Firmware updates do not delete settings on the device. However, some settings may not be transferred if major functions updates are included. For details, please check the relevant firmware download page.

  1. From the firmware download page, download and confirm that the name of the file is firmware.bin . If the name is different, overwrite and rename file to firmware.bin .

  2. Copy firmware.bin to the root directory of the microSD card (the top folder).

  3. Turn off the power of LiveShell W. Unplug all cables from LiveShell W.

  4. Connect LiveShell W unit to a display monitor via HDMI OUT and insert the microSD card.

  5. The following procedure differs depending on the automatic boot setting. Please operate accordingly.

    • Auto boot is ON

    1. While pushing and holding the video select button A and MEMORY button on the front of the main unit, then connect the unit to power supply.

    2. Continue to push and hold the video select button A and the MEMORY button for at least 10 seconds.

    3. When the firmware update starts, "Firmware Update" will appear on the display monitor connected, and the leftmost of the 3 stream button indicators on the main unit will blink. Then, release the video select button A and the MEMORY button.

    • Auto boot is OFF

    1. Connect the unit to the power supply.

    2. Push and hold the video select button A and the MEMORY button on the front of the main unit.

    3. Continue to push and hold the video select button A and the MEMORY button. Push the power button when Cerevo logo appears on the unit OLED display. Then release the power button ONLY. Keep pushing both the video select button A and MEMORY button.

    4. When the firmware update starts, "Firmware Update" will appear on the display monitor connected to HDMI OUT, and the leftmost of the 3 stream button indicators on the main unit will blink. Then, release the video select button A and the MEMORY button.

    • If you do not know the automatic boot is ON or OFF

    1. Follow the procedure described in "Auto boot is ON".

    2. If the firmware update does not start even after waiting 20 seconds or more, please follow the procedure in "Auto boot is OFF".

  6. When the firmware update starts, "Firmware Update" will appear on the display monitor connected to HDMI OUT and the leftmost of the 3 stream button indicators on the main unit will blink. DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER.

  7. When the firmware update is completed, the leftmost of the 3 stream button indicators on the main unit will light up green for about 3 seconds, and then the unit will restart automatically. DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER YET.

  8. When the restart is complete and the main unit's OLED display shows the main status screen, the device is ready for use. To disconnect the power supply, please follow the shutdown operation.

  • If the leftmost of the 3 stream button indicators on the main unit flashes red, that means the firmware update has failed. Please check the followings and try again from the beginning.

    • Is the microSD card inserted correctly?

    • Is the name of the updater file on the microSD card firmware.bin?

    • Is the updater file placed directly under the root of the microSD (the top folder)?
