8 Remote control setting with LiveShell Remote

This chapter explains how to configure and operate LiveShell Remote.

LiveShell Remote is a subscription cloud service that connects to the LiveShell Studio via the Internet and allows you to remotely control this product. It can be used when this product is installed and operated far away from the location where it is operated, or when you want to do maintenance or operation of this product remotely.

Tip

LiveShell Remote is a LiveShell Studio optional service. It is not mandatory to use LiveShell Studio.

LiveShell Remote is an optional subscription service that can be used when remote control is required but users on the sites are unable to configure the network themselves.

If you are using LiveShell W in a local network where remote operation is not required, or if you are building your own network such as a VPN, there is no need to use or register LiveShell Remote.

8-1 LiveShell Remote Service Agreement

To use LiveShell Remote, you must purchase a service agreement and license. Please confirm the service details on the service website below before purchasing the agreement and license.

8-2 Registering your LiveShell W to LiveShell Remote

After purchasing a license, you must register the LiveShell W you want to use LiveShell Remote.

Please follow the steps below. Individual device registration can be performed in LiveShell Studio. It cannot be done on the device itself.

  1. Connect to LiveShell Studio for the device you wish to register.

  2. Click “Settings” at the top of the home screen.

  3. Select the “LiveShell Remote” tab at the top.

  4. Enter the PIN code provided with your LiveShell Remote license in the “PIN Code” field under “Register this device to LiveShell Remote.”

  5. Click the “Register” button to complete the registration to LiveShell Remote.
    If registration is successful, the “LiveShell Remote Registration Status” will change to “Registered” and the device ID will be displayed.

8-3 Unregistering LiveShell Remote

If you have registered an individual device in LiveShell Remote and would like to discontinue use of LiveShell Remote, please follow the steps below. You can unregister an individual device in LiveShell Studio. It cannot be done on the device itself.

  1. Connect to LiveShell Studio for the device you wish to unregister.

  2. Click “Settings” at the top of the home screen.

  3. Select the “LiveShell Remote” tab at the top.

  4. Click the “Delete” button under “Unregister LiveShell Remote”.

  5. The product will now be unregistered from LiveShell Remote.

If you cancel your LiveShell Remote, you will not be able to use LiveShell Remote until you register again. Please note that canceling your license does not delete the LiveShell Remote license.

8-4 Connecting to the LiveShell Remote cloud server

A LiveShell W registered with LiveShell Remote automatically connects to the LiveShell Remote cloud server via the Internet.If a connection to the server is not possible due to a network outage or other reason, the unit will periodically retry the connection.See the next section for instructions on how to check the connection status with the cloud server.

8-5 Checking the LiveShell Remote connection status

You can check the connection status between this product and the LiveShell Remote cloud server from LiveShell Studio or the main status screen on this product’s OLED display.

In the LiveShell Studio web application, if the device is properly connected to the LiveShell Remote cloud server, a blue ☁ (cloud) icon will appear.If the device is registered but has not yet established a connection with the cloud server, a red “Remote Not Connected” message will appear.If the device is not registered with LiveShell Remote, the ☁ will appear with red cross line. If the device is not registered with LiveShell Remote, the ☁ will appear gray with a cross line. By clicking the ☁ icon, you can check the registration status with LiveShell Remote, the device ID, and the connection status to the cloud server.

On the main status screen of the device, a ☁ (cloud) icon will be displayed when the device is properly connected to the LiveShell Remote cloud server.If the device is registered but is not yet connected to the cloud server, an x ​​icon will be displayed in the relevant section.If the device is not registered to LiveShell Remote, no such information will be displayed.

To check the device ID and connection status on the device, please follow the steps below.

  1. Push the control dial. “MAIN MENU” will display.

  2. Turn the control dial to select “Network” and push the Video Select Button A.

  3. Turn the control dial to select “Remote Status” and push the Video Select Button A.

  4. Your device ID and connection status will be displayed.

If a connection to the cloud server cannot be established and you are retrying the connection, a ☁ (cloud) icon may briefly appear to indicate the connection status.
